On October 28, 2010, St. Georges Technical High School and an entire community grieved for the loss of Amy Christine Stevens in a tragic car accident. Amy was only 16, a junior, an exceptional soccer player, earning the All State team in her sophomore year. She also excelled in Field Hockey, earning a place in the third team All State team. In addition, Amy excelled in the classroom, she was an Honor Roll student, with a 4.0 grade point average. As a junior in the Nursing program, she was already taking college classes. Her future seemed limitless and promising.
Any loss of a child is especially tragic, but her loss has affected us in a way that cannot be measured. We have had the tremendous opportunity to coach Amy in Field Hockey and Soccer. Her tenacious spirit, infectious personality, and work ethic on and off the field made her loss even more significant to us. As we grieve her loss, we honored Amy by creating the Amy Stevens Scholarship Foundation. This foundation awards a scholarship to a senior athlete who also excels academically, like Amy.
